BASANT PANCHMI – A DAY TO HONOUR DEVI SARASWATI
Basant Panchami is celebrated in the honor of Goddess Saraswati, who is goddess of knowledge, language, music and all arts. It is believed that Goddess Saraswati actually took birth i.e. came into existence. Once Lord Brahma came on earth to see how his creation actually looks like. He was amazed to see to see beautiful trees, birds and natural beauty all around.Inspite of such a magnificent view all around, he thought there is some deficiency as everything was quiet. Then he took water(jala) from his pot and sprinkled on earth. With this a Goddess wearing white clothes with 4 hands holding a book, harp, lotus and garland appeared. Brahma awarded her with boon that she will reside in everybody’s throat.
Basant Panchami is celebrated on Panchami tithi of magha month. Panchami tithi starts on 10:46 am today and will end on 13:20 tomorrow. Make sure you perform puja when Panchami tithi is going on.
The nakshatra operating on this day is UTTARABHADRAPADA. This nakshatra is mainly associated with Goddess Lakshmi. So chanting Devi Lakshmi mantras is really helpful. Uttara Bhadrapada is nakshatra of Saturn and lord Shani is currently transiting Capricorn.
Offering services related to education in orphanages, blind ashrams and disabled ashrams is really fruitful. Donate items related to education such as books, notebooks and stationery. As Sarasvati is related to speech, so praying to Lord Narayan on this day will be beneficial to overcome speech related issues. You should chant Saraswati mantras or offer prayers to her. Offering yellow flowers and white clothes to Devi will help you gain her blessings.
Devi saraswati is embodiment of all creativity, knowledge, beauty and power. Bow down to her gain all glories and knowledge. Bow down to her for success in career and education. At end,bow down to her for removing the negativity of ignorance and awaken the positivity of intelligence in your soul.
