As per lunar calendar,the month of Shravan starts on new moon day i.e. when moon transits the nakshatra of Shravan in Capricorn. This Time the Shravan Month becomes highly auspicious as the Shravan Maas is starting from Somvar (Monday) and ending with Monday with 5 Monday and it is believed that praying upon Lord Shiva and Shakti can fulfill all desires in this month.
As per the Shiv Puraan – The Story of Samudra Manthan took place during the month of Shravan.This story holds immense importance as Shiva consumed the poison from the churning of the Ocean to save the people of the world.
