Meaning Of –

सर्वधर्मान्परित्यज्य मामेकं शरणं व्रज।

अहं त्वा सर्वपापेभ्यो मोक्षयिष्यामि मा शुचः॥

-Gita Chapter-18 Verse-66

This verse from Gita has been interpreted many times by many learned scholars and saints to their best of ability and potential. Though this great verse has a very broad intention, every philosopher has tried to clarify his point of view. Some say that Shri Krishna said, “to leave all your duties and take his refuge, he will forgive your sins and give you salvation.” While some scholars have the view that Shri Krishna said: “leave all religions and take my asylum, I shall absolve you of all sins”. Various interpretations of this Verse have become controversial because it suggests to leave your duties and take refuge, even though Shri Krishna specifically mentioned that Karma and duties are most important and interrelated.

In my opinion, this Verse is probably most suitable Verse for us and can have different interpretations in a different era. I think this Verse has a very broad meaning and not just for seeking asylum, not leaving your earthly duties, but to remember Shri Krishna in your every work, your daily life. Whatever you do, do it as an offering to Shri Krishna. You need not worship different Gods; you need not follow various rituals, you only have to take refuge in Shri Krishna.

Whenever there is confusion in your life, submit yourself to Shri Krishna. Doing your duty is as important as worshipping God. Both are complementary to each other, both make each other complete. Doing your duty alone will not take you to your desired destination, similarly worshipping alone without doing your duty will not give you any benefit. You have to do both and find a balance between them to be blessed with Moksha.

In Kaliyuga, the way of life is finding a suitable combination of doing your duties and worshipping The God. Do your duties with devotion, worship Shri Krishna with devotion, he will forgive your sins and give you salvation.
