According to astronomers, Saturn and Jupiter will align in the sky very closely leading to an event known as ‘Great Conjunction’ or Christmas Star. This conjunction has been a talk of town for all the astrologers as it is quite rare and will have long-lasting effects on all of us. Scientists of NASA has also been quite enthusiastic about the same. According to astronomers, Saturn’s and Jupiter’s orbit changes after every 20 years but this time has arrived after around 1623 that these big planets will be so close.
“You can imagine the solar system to be a racetrack, with each of the planets as a runner in their own lane and the Earth toward the centre of the stadium,” Henry Throop, an astronomer in NASA’s Planetary Science Division, said in a NASA statement. From our vantage point, we’ll be able to see Jupiter on the inside lane, approaching Saturn all month and finally overtaking it on December 21.”
It is really interesting to note that the event is so important for the space agencies too. They are eagerly waiting for the event to unfold on 21st December.
