The echo of pious sound Radhe! Krishna! creates the sacred atmosphere that opens the ocean of reverence in front of every soul present to see one glimpse of Lord Krishna’s conch like feet in the Banke Bihari temple at Vrindavan, the day is Akshay Tritiya. Life becomes radiant with the worship, brightness enters the soul and the entire atmosphere is charged with religiousness.

Charan Darshan

Akshay Tritiya is the auspicious occasion that falls on the third tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Vaisakha, the day brings never-ending prosperity that never diminishes and embarks purchasing of gold, any other precious metal or start of new ventures, it also holds an inexplicable feeling among Lord Krishna’s devotees as it is the only day when they can see the worshipped feet as for rest of the year they are kept covered with clothes and flowers.

Vigraha Swaroop

The fragrance of sweet smelling flowers with scented water sprayed on devotees highlight the flame of devotion that reaches its peak when the deity appear outside the shrine decorated beautifully with the sandal wood paste. Minute details are taken care of in the worship; the idols are decorated with light-colored summer clothes with minimum jewelry on them to signify that the atmosphere is humid and people should take care of their clothing habits. The devotees get only one chance in a year to get a glimpse of the wonderful form of the Supreme Being and to obtain special blessings of getting every wish granted and fulfilled. The whole day from morning people visit the shrine to receive special blessings of the Lord.

Legend

It is a belief that five hundred years ago musically renounced Swami Haridas, through his music devotion, saw Thakur Shree Banke Bihari in Nidhivan in Vrindavan, it was then that he started the ritual of viewing the feet of Lord on this date of Akshaya Tritiya.

This Year on 26th April, Sunday every ritual will be performed with absolute devotion with the exception that devotees will not physically see the indescribable lotus-feet of the Lord, the doors of the temple will remain closed, the precaution is essential to stop the spread of Covid-19.
