The Fast for Life Partner of Dreams- 16 Somvar Vrat

The wish of every female is to get a caring, successful, intelligent, and virtuous life partner, the life-partner who is devoted, and the one who genuinely loves her. The secret desire is to get one like Lord Shiva who awaited millions and millions of years for Devi Sati to be reborn as Devi Parvati. If Parwati ji can get a deserving and balanced life-partner then why can’t all the other females in this world get one?

Devi Parvati did rigorous puja, went through strict examination of Her will and determination, and only then She found Her true love in the form of Lord Shiva. Females in Kalyug may not follow that precise and punctilious procedure but they can keep fast for 16 Mondays, starting from the first Monday of Sawan i.e. Monday of Shukla Paksha of the month of Sawan.

The most important parameter is the truthfulness of the Vow undertaken; the fasting done only with true devotion and purity of heart will enable them to marry the life partner of their dreams.

Rituals during 16 Somvar

The rituals are simple to adhere; the females should get up early in the morning and after taking bath should start puja of Lord Shiva. If puja is to be done within the home premises then a Shivling should be kept at the shrine place of the home which should be in the North-East direction of the home with the Lingum facing North direction. Then after the Holy bath of Lingum with raw milk, curd, and water, do Chandan tilak and then offer Bel Patra, Roli, Chawal, flowers, Datura, Kanher flower, Janeu, and blessed food and then perform Aarti with Dhoop and Camphor.

After completing all the procedures of Shiv Puja females must read the story of Somvar Vrat and chant ‘Om Namah Shivay’ as many times as possible throughout the day. After Puja rituals are complete then once, during any time of the day females can intake sweets, fruits, or salt less meal. Before starting fast a vow regarding number and types of meals should be undertaken.
