The Logic behind Menstruation Restrictions
A lot of people have a taboo about menstruation, lot consider it as the impure time frame for females. A time frame when females are barred to attend any religious ceremony.
But do we know the logic behind the restriction?
It is the natural phenomenon in a female that is essential for female longevity as it frees the body from unwanted energy gathered during the whole month and charges the body once again with positivity.
Ayurveda combines five elements in Vata, Pitta and Kapha dosha and each body has a different combination of these that determines the personality traits. ‘Apana Vayu’ is an outward energy flow, responsible for quality and quantity of the entire toxic outflow in the human body, including the monthly cleansing flow in females. This flow is dominated by Pitta and Vata dosha, it detoxes females every month. The activities like running, jogging, swimming and many other similar ones that cause the upward energy flow in females during the cleansing cycle should be avoided.
Indian Scriptures is the harmonious and logical combination of everything. It connects the outward flow of energy in females with logic. Females undergo a downward energy flow and the temple is the place full of positive and upward energy. So when a female visits temple during the mentioned time then there is a conflict in the direction of energy that may cause extreme pain to females.
Further, the females undergoing this energy cycle are so pure that during ancient times they were isolated, untouched and treated like a living Goddess because we don’t touch absolute purity. Such females when enter temples then the energy of the God/Goddess in the temple will move over her, making the idol lifeless. Females are the living entity and they cannot sustain the positive energy of the God/Goddess and due to accumulation of energy, they may fall sick.
The menstruating woman is sensitive to energies around them so when they eat in mass or cook food then they can be affected by lower energy people around them and their prana maybe again stuck between the conflicting energies.
Our cultural practice and ancient rituals have a meaning attached to it, they were related to indigenous science and none of them was meant to make women impure during the time frame of purity.
